I've started plaything with Lean locally, but I'm having to learn c# at rhe same time. Can anyone guide me on how I can place orders, requst history for securities listed on other exchanges (e.g. LSE) through IB?

Sorry, but at the moment, QuantConnect/Lean does not support non-US exchange for equity.
We are working on internationalization (non-US dollar account) which is one necessary step in that direction.
