Dear Quants!
We've updated how notifications from live algorithms are handled to make them more scalable. This change came after many of you requested higher, more dynamic limits to messages so you could burst notifications as required.
WebHooks, Telegram, and Email
Previously all notification types had a fixed limit of 20 free messages per hour. Now we're lifting this free limit to depend on the seat type and allow scaling as needed. Researcher seats will have the same limits, with Team seats now having 60 free messages per hour, and Trading Firm allowed 240, and Institutional 1 per second, 3600 per hour.
Beyond that, messages will continue to be sent but billed at 1 QCC per message. If your account does not have credit, these messages are rejected and logged into your algorithm.
SMS Phone Alerts
SMS was a significant expense for QuantConnect, with many live algorithms costing $20-40 daily in SMS fees! Clients would often not even need the alerts, which every month might sum to a $400 cost on a $20 live node. We have changed how these are processed in the future to only be possible via QCC, with different rates for US phone numbers vs. international numbers, where rates are significantly higher.
