Hi Folks,
I started learning the AlgoTrading recently and can manage the Python coding and learnt some financial basics. My requirement was to generate daily/weekly income with low-to-medium risk. I am comfortable with Equities as of now and trying to explore other assets as well.
Now the concern here is what kind of markets should I start trading? Equities/Forex/Crypto/Options or REITs? and out of hundreds of strategies, how to choose the right strategy suiting my trading style? or should I start learning the ML strategies?
These kind of questions making me confused and blocking me from the right direction to follow. Any suggestions or references would be of much help.
Thank you in advance.

Hi Ramesh,
It's great to hear that you're getting started with algorithmic trading. Here are some suggestions based on the information you've provided and the resources available on QuantConnect.
Asset Classes: Since you're comfortable with equities, it's a good place to start. Once you're comfortable with your equity strategies, you can explore other asset classes. QuantConnect supports a variety of asset classes including US Equity, India Equity, Equity Options, Crypto, Crypto Futures, Forex, Futures, Future Options, Index, Index Options, and CFD. You can learn more about these asset classes here.
Strategies: The choice of strategy depends on your risk tolerance, investment horizon, and personal preferences. QuantConnect provides a series of boot camps that walk you through building various strategies like pairs trading and EMA crossovers. You can start with the Buy and Hold Equities boot camp and then explore others.
Machine Learning: Machine learning can be a powerful tool in algorithmic trading, but it also requires a solid understanding of both the financial markets and the specific ML techniques being used. It's recommended to first get comfortable with traditional strategies before diving into ML.
Learning Resources: QuantConnect has its own tutorial for using python for finance. There are also countless other resources for learning python, like learnpython and codecademy.
Remember, the journey to becoming proficient in algorithmic trading is a marathon, not a sprint. Take your time to understand the concepts and don't hesitate to ask questions in the QuantConnect forum.
Best of luck on your algorithmic trading journey!
