Hello,
I would like to know whether it is possible to connect the securities account at CapTrader (Introducing Broker of IB) with Quantconnect.
I live in Germany, the custody account would be legally in Ireland.

QuantConnect supports live trading with Interactive Brokers (IB), which is a global brokerage firm. As CapTrader is an introducing broker of IB, it should technically be possible to connect your CapTrader account with QuantConnect through the IB interface. However, the specifics of this setup might depend on the details of the relationship between CapTrader and IB, and any specific regulations in Germany or Ireland.
QuantConnect has users all around the world who use IB live without issue. If you encounter any issues, it might be a local issue with your specific country. In such a case, you should provide more information so that the QuantConnect team can look into your specific case source.
When you want to go live with Live Trading, QuantConnect will ask for your user name, account ID, and password. These details are required to login with IB as IB doesn't have an OAuth mechanism. You can pair it with 2FA at IB and so your account can only be accessed by replying to the IB-2FA system. The account access is also limited to trading and not withdrawals, so if there was a breach, and they somehow get your 2FA device, then they could only place trades on your behalf. The details are never saved in the QC database; it is only ever passed through to the live server you're running and QuantConnect employs all modern security practices to ensure it's as safe as possible source.
Please note that while QuantConnect's trading engine, LEAN, supports live trading with IB, you should always test your algorithm thoroughly in backtesting and paper trading before going live to ensure it behaves as expected.
