I saw the blog post that said quantconnect has index options but I can't get them to work. Is there any thing special needed to get index options to work?

We recommend going through the data set page on US Index Options where we have implemented example algorithms. Would you mind attaching a backtest highlighting the issue for a precise diagnosis if this does not solve the issue?
