Are you serious, why is this a thing now? This would be fine if you didn't design your pricing structure to force us up tiers with all of the limits in place but forcing us to pay for an extra seat now too????
edit: oh and now everything is more expensive now, what even justifies this change?

Hi Garrison,
We review prices annually so it had been a year since we made any changes and some users were abusing the cheaper nodes for optimization, causing delays in backtesting for the whole community. Chip shortages mean we couldn't purchase more CPUs we like, and pricing on the other CPUs that are available went up. Despite these challenges, and inflation pushing all our costs up, the research pack only changed $2/mo on an annual plan.
The team and higher plans are designed for organizations (companies shooting to build on QC). If there are specific functions missing from the Researcher Seat you would like please let us know and we'll consider it. To avoid raising prices significantly on individuals (and continue our mission to open this up to all quants) we're trying to offer more business-friendly features that can help subsidize academics and individual plans. One of the challenges we have is that a company can exploit extreme value from QuantConnect. As QC matures we'll need our pricing to better reflect the value we're creating for those organizations.
We need to continue growth in users and revenue to be sustainable with economies of scale, and ensure we're here to serve you for many years to come. Our core mission is to keep quant accessible, and we always keep it in focus.
