Welcome Arran - you can use a Visual Studio plugin but it is in beta, and only works in Visual Studio 2013 so far. The link to download the plugin is here: http://www.qnt.co/ba62e

Just login, and click "New Project". Type in a project name, and click "Backtest" from the QuantConnect menu:

The plugin is open sourced and uses the QC-REST API. Feel free to extend/improve it here: https://github.com/QuantConnect/QCStudioPlugin

I'm using VS 2013 Express, do I need another version to run this?

Correct, you would need a Visual Studio Professional edition because the express editions do not support plugins -

With VS Community edition you can get VS plugin support for free! I've never used it, but here's a link: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/onecode/archive/2014/11/12/differences-between-visual-studio-community-edition-and-express-editions.aspx

Jared,

Does it has Visual Studio 2015 support yet? Is there any release version available? thanks.

Sorry @Munawar the plugin was deprecated in 2015 and not supported anymore. We've got a new API V2 in the open source project but there's no plugin wrapper for it.
