Why limit the size of the algorithm to 200k?

I've been working locally in Lean and I tried to back test my algo and I got a "file too big, 200k maximum" error.
That seems kind of small to me.

Hey Tom! People were uploading data inside of files which slowed down things for all users and tended to crash the system.

If you need bigger projects you can split it into multiple files, and each file can be 200kb max. The best way to do this would be with classes abstracting your algorithm behavior. If you want to keep algorithm structure the same as it is, you could use a partial class. e.g.

//File 1:
public partial class BasicTemplateAlgorithm : QCAlgorithm
{
...
}

//File 2:
public partial class BasicTemplateAlgorithm : QCAlgorithm
{
...
}
