I have Anaconda Python 3.x installed on Windows 10. I'd rather not install Visual Studio if I don't have to; however, from what I have read it appears that Visual Studio must be installed to support automated trading with a brokerage account. Visual Studio must be installed?.

Visual Studio is not required.
Since the QuantConnect team uses Visual Studio as its IDE, the installation instructions suggests its installation and usage.
Unfortunatelly we cannot give support for several different setups (Visual Studio, Visual Code, XCode, Sublime, PyCharm, vim, Emacs, etc..) and, if anyone doesn't want to install Visual Studio, they will have to seek for community support at Google Group for Lean.
