Hello! Please correct me if this is the wrong place to ask this, but I am trying to get more involved with QuantConnect, and I would like to contribute to the opensource part of the project. What is the best way to start?

Welcome @Leonardo! Awesome! Glad to hear you're interested in contributing. The best place is to become familiar with LEAN, the open source engine behind the project. Issues are the pending todo's for the core engine. You can make example algorithms and models for the Algorithm Framework.
If you can contribute to the documentation see the docs repository.
Contributions to the community via shared algorithms, and helping others in the community-forums is also very helpful!
