I've tried both, and am having errors, but would like to find out which one is the preferred method before dropping issues in github and working to fix them.
For a package of this complexity with this # of dependencies, docker would be my personal preference, but I'd like to hear which method is "officially" recommended.

Hi Alphahunter,
Sorry for the wait!
There is no official or preferred method. We use docker containers in our cloud because it is more convenient to manage the algorithms we run at the same time.Â
If I were to develop Lean and Lean algorithms locally with a Linux machine, I would not use a docker container, since I cannot use an IDE with that setup.

Officially we recommend using the docker environment since you can easily update it when the dependency requirements change without breaking changes required to your operating system.
