Using the Etrade API

I have access to the E-trade API to make trades. Is there a way you can connect Quantconnect to Etrade's to make algo trades with Etrade possible? I know you only support IB as of now but not sure if your REST APIs could be used in for making trades with external brokers yet. Thanks

The technology is written in a way that is completely broker agnostic. We currently support IB and Tradier brokerages with plans to add more. If you'd like to request another brokerage connection, I recommend submitting an issue to the github repository issues list requesting connection with ETrade, may get lucky and a community member may be able to implement it!

Thanks! So, do I understand it right that the REST APIs can be used to pass trades to Etrade? I know on the broker side is technically feasible to receive trades

Yes, TradierBrokerage exposes their services via a REST API as well, so I imagine implementing the ETradeBrokerage for ETrade would be very similar. Brokerage implementations are not quick and easy code. They're very sensitive and each brokerage has it's own peculiarities with their API, so building a brokerage connection is typically about a two week initial effort plus lots and lots of testing for edge cases.

The LEAN engine that powers QuantConnect was designed in a broker agnostic fashion, so we could theoretically connect to any brokerage that exposes a public API over the internet.
