Hello,
Does anyone know if there is a way to set a universe for only preferred shares? Additionally, does anyone know the notation to manually enter preferred shares into a universe? Any help would be much appreciated
Thanks

Anyone with some experience with this? I've noticed that some preferred shares are included in my universe but not all. Are these just the preferred shares that are in perputiy?Â

Hi Gabriel,
We can see if a security is a preferred stock in a fine filter by comparing seeing if it's .SecurityReference.SecurityType field is equal to 'ST00000002'. Please see the attached backtest for an example. For reference, please see our documentation on our fundamental data.

Thanks Shile, do you by chance know which preferred shares are included in the data? I ran a universe filter for only REITs with preferred shares and got the results below:
I know that this isn't the complete list of preferred shares avaiable for REITs so was wondering why only these pop up? I did notice that the secuirtysymbol doesn't have any unsuaul notation such as dashes or dots which are typical of prefered shares. Maybe that's it? If so, any possibility of those getting included?

Hi Gabriel,Â
Since we use a fine filter to get the universe of preferred shares, our universe is limited by the data provided to us by the MorningStar Fundamentals database, which may mean some symbols will be missing from our universe.Â
Best,
