Is there a way I can do a sentiment analysis of stocks from Twitter?

I see that there is an algorithm on this site to pull data for twitter users. This algorithm has been helpful but was wondering if we have some sort of sentiment analysis drawn from stock tweets in Twitter or even pull the raw data of the stock related information from StockTwits website. It has an API exposed. Has someone already done this?

I think you should program it yourself.

Sorry Rony at this point no -- we shared it to the blog so you can setup a server & start saving the data for personal use. Twitters' API usage policy prohibits companies doing it to share.

You can do it for yourself and import it into QC's custom data system fairly easily. The hardest part is waiting a few weeks for the data-collection to build up to sufficient history for trading!

If anyone wants a small sample of Twitter sentiment on around 100 stocks over the last 5 weeks or so, let me know. I've been saving tweets and and computed sentiment since and of march (should have done it earlier!).
