Hi,
I'm following the instructions on https://www.quantconnect.com/tutorials/open-source/backtesting-from-visual-studio to install the QuantConnect Visual Studio Plugin, but I'm having some issues with it. I've downloaded VS Community 2019 and the VSIX file provided by the instructions. I double-clicked the VSIX file as instructed, opened the LEAN Solution in Visual Studio, and selected ‘Release’ solution configuration. However, in the Solution Explorer window, I don't see the QuantConnect.VisualStudioPlugin project that the instructions say I need to rebuild. How can I resolve this?
Thanks,
Derek

Hey Derek! I highly recommend moving to Skylight, we won't be supporting the VS Plugin going forward as its IDE specific. With Skylight, it automatically synchronizes your entire QC account to disk and will be a robust platform for us to extend to offering to backtest going forward.
It's a little gray how to debug the plugin specifically though. Sometimes it needs a full restart of Visual Studio, sometimes it installs automatically and is ready to go. Are you on windows or mac?

Hey Jared!
Very cool. I haven't seen the Skylight project referenced on the site before. I'll give it a shot.
I'm on Windows now, but I mostly use Ubuntu.

I use JetBrains Pycharm. I have not yet downloaded Lean. I did download Skylight and installed it but when I right click on the icon for the exe file I am not given the option to log in, although I noe that the software is in fact running (it is listed in Windows Task Manager). Perhaps it has logged me in automaticallly via Chrome?
In any event, is there amny documentation on exactly what it does and how to get it working?
Thanks

Hello Anthony,
The Skylight application will run in the system tray, which is accessible by clicking on the "^" shaped arrow in the taskbar, and right clicking on the application icon as shown below:

If the application is not running, please send an email to support with the Skylight log file attached if it exists.
You can find the log file on Windows at: %AppData%\Skylight\logs
Thanks
