I'm new to this site, and am currently using it to experiment with some ideas that I have come up with. Honestly, I'm not sure if this question makes sens,e, but how often is the total portfolio value updated? Is there any way that I could see how the total portfolio value works?

as far as i know it gets updated when your order get filled (buying or selling a stock)
when nothing happens during the day (no orders) every day at night i think the framework refreshes the portfolio
but wait for an official developer answer :)

I also would like to know the answer. I have live accounts connected to OANDA as well as to FXCM. Problem seems to be when I manually transfer funds to the trading account on broker side. For OANDA it takes about a day to recognize the new margin and for FXCM I'm experiencing a delay of some days currently (this is why I was searching for this question).
Next try will be to explicitely implement an hourly call to SecurityPortfolioManager.TotalPortfolioValue but I doubt this will change anything...

When adding funds to a live account, we recommend stopping the algorithm and redeploying.
