As the title asks, why are the strategies only available to 5 some odd hedge funds rather than the broader public? I know that in just looking at some of the strategies created, I would spend $1,000 to $10,000 in a heartbeat for the sharpe ratios they have achieved. Wouldn’t this increase QuantConnect’s profits and in turn make the community larger and more diverse?

Guessing here - it's much more simple to work with a few partners for a start. If you have a lot of capital to deploy, you're probably better off sending the question to Jared directly. That said, I do think they could eventually outclass Collective2 if they wanted to go that route of enabling the general public to rent algos.
On sharpe ratios: Remember the fairly short live histories most alphas yet have. It's not super hard to score 10 Sharpe in a particular month by chance.

Hi AdeelA its something we considered and indeed QuantConnect was actually launched with that vision in 2012! However, over time, we've grown to see how complex and risky quantitative strategies can be if you don't have intimate knowledge of the industry. We have limited bandwidth and have chosen to focus on institutions that have the skills internally to consume the signals. Additionally, since they are larger, corporate, clients we aren't impacted by financial advice regulation. We also have a better ability to ensure the alpha-market intellectual property is protected by knowing each client.
