New Terminal Feedback Thread

Hi everyone, we are excited to introduce the new terminal design! The community has already started providing helpful feedback across numerous channels, but we wanted to create this thread a central place for discussion.

For reporting bugs or asking about functionalities, please submit according to the format below:

  1. What happened? (i.e. "my backtest won't open")
  2. When? (i.e. "anytime I try to open a backtest from my project")
  3. Where? (i.e. "the 'My Projects' view")
  4. Console Information: please provide any relevant information from the browser console, accessible in Chrome with ctrl+shift+i or in Firefox with ctrl+shift+e. Potentially relevant information will likely have a red or yellow background.
  5. If possible, provide a screenshot.
Other comments and questions are welcome too, even if they don't fit in the above format, just as long as the topic relates specifically to the redesign.

Is the API helper still available to use?

Feature Requests:

1. Layout of the screen - can you use a cookie to remember if we have the sidebar open or closed and keep that setting next time we launch QC?  That'd be the side bar that has the 5 links to My Projects, Boot Camp, etc.?

2) In a similar vein, we used to be able to collapse the 2nd side bar (noted in picture below in Gray with the file names, libraries, etc).  Can we create a feature request to be able to close that to maximize code real estate?

Strange bug with live deployments. Chrome 76.0.3809.36.

  1. CTRL+F5 on the main starting page
  2. Click Live Projects on the left hand side
  3. Click View Live under one of the deployments
  4. Observe that it doesn't take you to the live view but instead takes you to the code
  5. Click Close Project
  6. Repeat #2 and #3
  7. Observe that you are taken to page that seems to show the live deployment on top but your code below!

Picture showing part of the issue.

No specific log messages are shown that weren't already showing in the old version.

In fact - you can see the same behaviour in Clayton Berry's screenshot in the post above.

 Douglas Stridsberg : very weird!

0

If I'm seeing correctly, in the my projects folder it doesn't have a symbol of which algorithms are shared with others until I open the project itself.

1

Thanks Douglas Stridsberg  we weren't able to repeat the issue! We'll push a fix this morning.

Thank you Mitch Carrara :) Will push that out today too =)

tom vang  - it wasn't, but glad to see it's getting so many votes! We didn't think people were using it, we'll put it back in!

Hi,

I'd echo the comment above about being able to minimize the second panel as before to create more space for the code window.

0

Same about minimizing the second panel!

Thanks!

1) I have the jumbled GUI elements as described above when pressing View Live button on live project list to the left, until I press View Live tab to the right. I.e. no blocker.

2) I don't see any custom runtime statistics anymore (QCAlgorithm.SetRuntimeStatistic) in live algos that definitely should have it. This does suck and is a huge deal since this is how I gauge the algo's internal sub-signals.

1

Also having a very weird GUI layout when launching a new live instance right now, it is navigable though.

Runtime stats and jumbled GUI for live view seem fixed now! Thanks guys.

On a side note, the live algo instance list accessible from left hand side is fairly large on my 1920x1080 screen and only shows two instances at a time, which is slightly problematic as I'm trying to keep track of what four or more of them are doing. Two column format would make more sense here to allow twice as many algos instead of right half of screen being unused, if the list cannot overlap the project view anymore (as it seems).

1

And now old interface (without runtime stats though) is back... It's been flipping between the new and old one a lot.

1

Agree with Peter on the Live trading tile format.  I'm using a smaller MacBook and going to a 2 column format and slightly smaller tiles would allow me to see 4 at once.

Unable to Stop a live deployment from the Live Projects tab. I get the modal box but nothing happens when clicking OK.

Only when I first click View Live and then press the Stop button from there am I able to turn it off.

In a live deployment, any chart I open from the right-hand menu opens in a small window (less than the full window width, i.e. the width of the default Equity chart). Is there a way to "maximize" a chart? In the old design they opened large by default.

I've noticed everytime I bring up a Live Project.  The holdings tab is the default selection at the bottom.  But my holdings are never shown.  I have to click on another tab like orders and then go back to holdings to see what the holdings are.  Curious if others are seeing this too...

Clayton Berry, you are not alone.  I see the same thing.  Holdings is the default tab but showing no holdings.  Click Orders and then Holdings and the holdings appear.  For the record, I'm using Firefox as my browser.

0

How do we get to our projects?  As of today I see the following and clicking "My Projects" has no affect.  The other options work but there is no way to create or edit a project.  Anyone else having this issue?

Thanks, ... using Firefox.
