Running lean on local desktop

Hi, I'm need to run a strategy on Lean desktop. Starting out with trying to run BasicTemplateFrameworkAlgorithm.py on Lean desktop. It looks like the backtest went fine but it did not generate the backtesting user interface as per the example here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m6llfznP4d4

The current config.json doesn't appear to have the backtesting-desktop environment so I've created it manually. I've also setup the API token.

I've attached my config.json here: https://gofile.io/d/fxDxF1

The output log is here: https://gofile.io/d/z3cv0d

How do I get the backtest user interface to work?

I'm told Lean desktop is deprecated but there is no alternative provided. How are others running lean on their desktop?

Thanks.

Hey there, it is deprecated and we do not have a replacement at this time.

I was just about to install Lean so this is well timed. Is the alternative Skylight?

Hi Richard,

Skylight enables users to develop algorithms locally. Backtests are run on a server node.
Alternatively, it is also viable to run backtests locally, but sourcing and constantly updating data may be challenging.

See a description of using Skylight here.

Thanks Gahl. I like the skylight approach.

Now trying to workout how to get autocomplete/intellisense working for lean on VS C#?

Jared Broad  is there a way to overcome the limit in logging if using my own data? A bit dissappointing this is deprecated. Back in june I asked the question around continuity risk and had the impression that the open source version was going to be supported

Skylight has on its roadmap to build a GUI. The old desktop platform was not cross platform and only worked on windows (and badly).

Best way to ensure long term support for LEAN and QC is to sponsor is on Github or sign up for a plan =)
